The gallery of TV commercials that Tencent provides for overseas. Their overseas users already exceeded 50 million people.

Posted on 22:00 by Unknown
As I explained before, WeChat formally entered into the Indian market, but they will also establish the subsidiary in Malaysia to enter this market soon.

According to them, WeChat already has one million users in Malaysia, but they already started to provide the TV commercial of the Malaysian version for expanding their users there as follows.

The other version is here.

They mainly are promoting the "Hold-to-Talk" feature as same as the Indian version, but the whole style of this commercial have the clear difference with Indian version.

Now WeChat is provided to the various countries, but let's check the TV commercials that are provided in each country.

- Thailand

- Indonesia

- Philippine

Other version -1 ; Other version -2

- Hong Kong

- Taiwan

- Overseas (It seems that this TV commercial is not for the specific country.)

It's very interesting that there are many various versions by each country, isn't it?

Now WeChat has over 50 million overseas users, but their rival "LINE" has about 105 million overseas users. And LINE already entered into the Chinese market, so we have to keep watching their battle in China and overseas as before.

Oversea users of WeChat already exceeded 40 million people. They also published the translation page to accelerate localization to each languages.

Posted on 22:38 by Unknown
WeChat already started to make inroads into foreign markets. And as I explained before, a lot of countries started to use their WeChat.

And recently, they announced that oversea users of WeChat already exceeded 40 million people. According to the news, the whole number of WeChat users were 312 million people, so it follows that the rate of oversea users are about 13%.

According to the news, their rival, LINE, have over 60 million users in foreign country, so it can be said that WeChat lags behind to LINE at the moment.

But they also published the translation page to accelerate localization to each languages.

Actually, this is a volunteer based efforts by frenetic their fans. WeChat team said:

WeChat is looking for help from our users around the world to improve localization in the app. You can help us with your expertise in Arabic, Hebrew, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malaysian, Polish, Russian, Spanish, Thai, Turkish, Vietnamese, or one of many more languages we support.

Volunteers can login to this page by Facebook or Google account. And after login, we can find the English sentence that WeChat team would like us to translate.

I tried to translate from English to Japanese :)

Each services or products should have many frenetic fans, so I think this is very interesting efforts. Would you try this?

Well, I think that we have to keep watching the two things about WeChat as ever. One of them is "WeChat will be changed to the paid service?", and another one is this "overseas deployment". Let's keep watching.

The popularization map of WeChat : India, Thailand and Malaysia are the 2nd countries next to China.

Posted on 01:07 by Unknown
Tencent WeChat already started to advance into the oversea market from last autumn, and they already have gotten the constant popularity in some southeast Asian countries.

And today, I would like to introduce the popularization map of WeChat that was reported by Value2020.

Actually, this map is not based on the number of their users, it is based on the condition that include apps ranking and the diffusion rate of smartphone in each countries. But I think that this map is suitable to understand the current situation of WeChat spreading.

WeChat already be welcomed some Asian countries in addition to China. And according to this map, WeChat is especially welcomed in India, Thailand and Malaysia. About the place except Asia, WeChat is welcomed in Mexico, Argentina, England, Spain, South Africa and so forth.

WeChat now already supported the 15 languages in total. (Simplified Chinese, English, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and so forth.)

WeChat precede to Sina Weibo in the internationalization area at this moment, but the rival of them LINE and KakaoTalk also already started to be welcomed in some of southeast asia.
For the future developments, it's not only needed the language localization, but also is needed the localization of culture, habit, design and so forth.

I would like to keep watching their activity as ever.

Sina Weibo started testing English page. At first, they target to Southeast Asian countries.

Posted on 08:00 by Unknown
From the year before last, there were rumors that Sina Weibo will start providing English pages in the near future. I'm going to forget that rumor, but they suddenly published their English page for the test.

Because they started preparing the English page a moment ago, actually there are not so many the part that was already translated to English.
Sina Weibo now supports simplified Chinese character and two traditional Chinese character(Taiwan and Hongkong) on their service. And the user can change these three languages at the lower right of top page, but English is not still added at this moment.

A staff of Sina Weibo said that they will not provide this English page to over the world in the early stage, they will provide this to only Southeast Asian countries.

I think this strategy makes sense. Because in Southeast Asian countries, especially in Indonesia, Facebook or LINE, WeChat now started to be welcomed, and their users are rapidly increasing, so it can be said that there is a lot of chance to expand their users.
So it's better that they will widely provide English pages to some Southeast Asian countries at first. And if there will be the specific country that welcome their service, it's better that they will start the second stage of localization.

As I mentioned before, the growth rate of Weibo users are little bit decreasing. So Sina and other Weibo vendor may accelerate the advance into overseas markets this year.

Active accounts of Instant Messenger increased to 1,206,000,000 accounts in China.

Posted on 17:51 by Unknown
According to the report by Eguan, active accounts of Instant Messenger(IM) increased to 1,206,000,000 accounts in China at the third quarter.

Its number increased 17.2% compared to the previous year, and increased 4.1% compared to the previous quarter.

In China, a user usually have multiple accounts of IM, and use the right account in the right case. And when they would like to contact other person, they prefer use it than using Email(Source : Report by CNNIC).

And there are lot of IM service in China now, for example WeChat(Tencent), Meyou(Sina), Wangxin(Taobao), MSN(Microsoft China), Feixin(China Mobile), and also QQ.

Now Tencent have the most strength in this market, but the other companies still have the chance of expanding their user. And foreign companies such as LINE, KAKAO Talk and Skype also be supposed to watch vigilantly for a chance to enter Chinese IM market in future.

So we have to keep attention as ever.

Tencent CEO Pony Ma said that WeChat user will exceed 200 million people in this month.

Posted on 08:58 by Unknown
"2012 China Internet Conference" was held in Beijing today. And at this conference, Tencent CEO "Pony Ma" said that WeChat(Weixin) user will exceed 200 million people in this month.

WeChat user exceeded 100 million people this March, so it follows that this user increased 100 million people in the six months.

And he also said that Tencent will accelerate the following two things in the mobile internet area:

1. O2O business
They placed QR code as the door of mobile internet, and they will accelerate their O2O business by its technology.

2. Security solution
As mobile internet user increase in China, then its security risk is increasing. So they will establish the specific fund, and they will accelerate the solution of this area with partners.

Recently, their rival company started to provide similar solution with WeChat, such as Meyou(Sina), Wangxin(Taobao) in China. And LINE is also steadily increasing their user in Japan and other Asian country.

So I am interested whether their new action can make accelerate increasing their users. Let's keep a very close watch in future action.
